Shawna Starbird
Shawna Starbird is a worship leader, wife, (foster) mom, and mini-van driver from Southeastern Wisconsin. As a young musician, most of her music career was in the genre of and influenced by country music but also used her gifts in the church from a very young age.
Shawna and her husband, Cory, spent about a year and a half in Nashville, Tennessee to pursue music where her love of songwriting began and her desire to chase after the presence of God really deepened. Shawna and her husband moved back home to be closer to family and hoped to start a family of their own. It was shortly after the move back home to Wisconsin that she experienced several life-changing challenges that really began to mold the worship her life now facilitates. One of the biggest trials being the devastating walk through infertility. Initially after receiving the diagnosis, she felt most of her dreams had come to die. It was an incredibly hard season for Shawna, Cory, and their entire family.
Shawna knew that God was a God of miracles and that he was faithful - so they continued to pray for a breakthrough. Through worship and prayer, God answered their prayers of having a family by giving them three amazing boys through the foster care system within just a few months of being licensed. It was not at all what they planned for themselves and had doubts about their ability to do it, but when God anoints something, it’s hard to put the idea aside. Had they not allowed God to heal and to work, the outcome would not have been the same. “God has filled our hearts with overflowing joy and abundance, x3! We feel blessed to be able to be used in this way, but also feel just as blessed to receive the blessing of having these boys in our lives. I’m blown away at how God works in our lives because that gaping hole inside our hearts no longer exists,” Shawna said.
There are so many people who struggle with infertility and loss, and it is one of Shawna’s desires for people to have hope... for people to know that God performs miracles in even higher ways than we can imagine.
And now, Shawna is currently using her gifts in her local church while also being a stay-at-home mom. She is releasing an album of acoustic worship covers with The Anthem Collective, as well as collaborating with other artists on a few songs. You can expect to see some originals in the future that she will use to tell of all the good God has done and is doing in her life that she hopes will touch your life as well.
